I’m nearly broke, can’t pay my rent next month and I’m unemployed. What’s the best way I can make a ton of money online with minimal investment?
…You’d be surprised how often I get this question.
Affiliate marketing is a business, and just like any business you work in or work for, requires some major investments, time and money. There is no magic vending machine that allows you to insert one dollar and it spits out 5 or 6 quarters.
If you don’t have any money, get out of the industry unless you have significant capital to invest in it. The last thing you want to do is spend your last $100 on a failed dating campaign on PoF. If you are having trouble paying your rent, paying the lease on your car, or whatever, it is time to get a job. I don’t care about how bad the economy is or how there are no jobs available. Any job making you any amount of money is better than no money and nothing to pay the rent with. McDonald’s is always hiring, and while it isn’t glamorous, no one says once you have a job, you have to stop looking for other jobs. Paint the town with job applications, submit 50 in one day.
Stop being a lazy ass because you want to stay home all day and play games. Next month you’ll have to sell that Playstation just because you can’t afford a few packs of ramen.
You can always freelance in your freetime, as well. I used to make $100 bucks a day for a few hours of writing. Hit up Digital Point, Warrior Forum, and WickedFire, write some decent sales copy, and make money writing or designing logos. Making $5 an article or logo is better than no money… am I right?
Sometimes you gotta sink your standards down temporarily to get to the goods at the end of the road. Don’t be afraid to do it, because once you can get the start-up capital to start affiliate marketing and do it right, it can be well worth the wait.

It is funny to think about people sitting around all day and making a living off of affiliate marketing. WRONG. Have to work at it to get good, just like any other JOB.

I totally agree Justin. I think most peole come into affiliate marketing expecting everything on plate. I am actually Taxi Driving whilst getting my biz off the ground.

I totally agree with you on this one Justin. Having a job while doing IM is the best thing you can do that no job at all and want to start an IM business.
I always invest at least 30% of my salary for my IM business because I know someday once it grows, the return will be much larger, just like you’re investing in an offline business.

Hi Justin,
Well written and so honest and raw!
I really like your style and work ethic!
I used to manage models and promotional girls and so many of them wanted the big dollars but didn’t want to put the effort in.
Whether it is offline or online! This industry takes hard work, focus, determination, education, time and money. And if we don’t have the money up front, then as we get the money slowly but surely the idea is to then reinvest back into our education.
This business is no different to opening a business or learning a trade offline. I do not understand why people think it is!
See you back here soon!
Cheers
Jacinta
P.S We are having a blogging challenge in the MC forum if your interested in joining in? I have written a blog post about it and am trying to generate a real buzz. Let me know! Hope all is great. Jacinta

I love this post. It’s all about the goals you have I think.
Having separate bank accounts helps too. One for your personal bills and one for your marketing efforts. Keep funds a part just like a business would.
Sell unwanted items to build up that marketing fund. You can get money in there. If working at Mccy D’s at night helps build that fund – then go for it.

Great post Justin.
The reality of affiliate marketing is that the money doesn’t come right away; far from that.
I freelanced quite awhile when I was still starting out; not only made me some seed money, it also made me learn some cool stuff from marketers who already knew what they were doing.

I would co-sign to this, but unfortunately, the Indians always bid down to the pennies. So you can’t really make a profit writing articles or any of that anymore. People want cheap prices, regardless of the quality.

I have managed to get a couple of high paying jobs from DP believe it or not. A few thousand dollar SEO contracts.
You just show people that you are better then those Indian beggers, and believe me they pay you what you are worth when they see your potential and if of course if they don’t have a restrictive budget!
These days it’s about perception, show people your something and you will be surprised!
Self funding your own business has it’s highs and lows, if you can ride the wave and enjoy it then you you will go far,
Nice post!
