This thing got overhyped, and I probably helped with that.

There are a few things that suckabout it. Myspace isn’t playing stupid like Facebook did when they opened advertising. There is a 25 cent price floor. This means if the payout is shit, you aren’t gonna make shit.

The tracking statistics on it are extremely, extremely slow. I had to track stats from my A4D stats page to see if I was getting any clicks as the reloads on Myspace stats were between 30 and 60 minutes.

Everything is made up of some huge ass flash application. For you guys in America, you’ve got no problems on your 100MB connections, but here in Thailand, all they give me access to is a 512kb line. Needless to say I gotta listen to a few songs before I can create new ads.

You can’t just edit the click price on a running ad. Nope, you gotta pause it, edit the price, and then resubmit it for review. Pretty dumb if you are just looking for some clicks.

If you increase click prices, you don’t get an adjusted price. Say you were bidding 25 cents, but now you want to get more hits so you’ll increase it to 50 cents. Instead of kind of bouncing inbetween 25 – 50 cents, all your click prices will be 50 cents, unlike where in facebook it might auto adjust to 35 or so cents per clicks.

Conversions actually aren’t that good. I know I guessed 5x more than normal, but I guessed wrong. Maybe I was targeting bad demos, but a few hundred clicks and only 3 conversions is not a good sign.

So whats next for me? I’ll stick to facebook for now, and I might hit up some other SM platforms like Social Media, although I hear they convert shitty, too. I honestly don’t want to keep running off of social platforms because I feel like it will die out soon, so I’m about to pay a lot of money to get into Google, Yahoo, and MSN. I’m scared to death, but I’m thinking it might work out. If it doesn’t I’ll sell the site to some noobs on DP.
