LoL More At This Week.

Posted on December 17th, 2008 By Under Affiliate Marketing

First of all, I want to thank Jonathan Volk for sending out a link to my blog. I was wondering why I was getting a huge rush of traffic. If some of you are still lingering around looking for tips on Facebook, I’ll keep posting them and shit. This is my personal blog where I’ll ramble, swear, and don’t care to optimize stuff too much. For more sensical information and in-depth write ups on the industry check out Deeboo.com, my little internet marketing/seo professional-type blog/soon to be community. Lot’s of nice tips out there for you trying to seriously get into the industry. If you missed Jonny’s post, he posted a $25 dollar coupon for free credit on Facebook. If you still aren’t on Facebook, take that coupon, throw up some titty pics and generate some dating leads. FREE MONEY!

Anyways, still having a poop ton of trouble this week with just about everything. I’ve been working hard on Facebook and Myspace since everything I’ve been running on search/CN has flopped and died. Yay for dead campaigns, the FTC, and Caps. BS.

I guess working too hard is what Myspace and Facebook don’t want. Why? Well, my main account on Facebook got disabled (I guess that was my fault for resubmitting legitamate ads… whatever.) I created 3 more accounts, submitted about 50 – 100 ads each, and ads went up. Then I noticed, all the ads were slowly getting disabled. Hmm, why would you accept my ads, give me 2-3 clicks on each one, and then disapprove them? I wasn’t cloaking earlier, and its not like the ads were advertising incorrect demographics that would get the dissapproved. Then, the accounts got disabled. Thanks Facebook!

I’ve contacted my ad manager for the past couple days trying to get them back up, and nothing has happened. I thought they’d like my $500+ a day I was spending on them (when I wasn’t really optimizing anything). Well, now I’m ready to spend about 3-5k on Facebook and they just won’t let me. I want to meet the genius who came up with their business plan -

“Hey guys! I got a great idea. Let’s kick the advertisers that know what they are doing, have 5k to spend with us daily, and want to work with us to make this system better!”

I’m even surprised they even got a business plan “approved.”

I tried my luck out on MySpace with a new campaign. I wasn’t expecting much my first day, and sure enough, 400 clicks = 0 conversions. Changed the LP, 300 clicks – 10 conversions. That made back all the money that I lost in previous attempts. See how switching shit up and split testing works. Always gotta split test.

So with the campaign running at an EPC more than doubling my money, it was time to scale the hell out of the campaign. Myspace doesn’t like to give too many impressions to one account, so you’ve got to spread out all your ads over a ton of accounts. I created about 5, and for the most part of one day, had lots of ads disapproved until I was lucky enough to get a good reviewer that let them up. Myspace doesn’t like all landing pages, so you really gotta cloak or redirect to another relevant page until it is approved. Luckily, you don’t have to sit around for 5 hours and wait for approval/disapproval like you would with Facebook. Myspace declines/approves my ads within minutes. I’m really starting to like the system.

So, I went back to check my main account, and lo and behold, disabled. What the hell for? I emailed them because that account was the only account not getting impressions on ads, so perhaps that was why. But then they emailed me back saying they had fixed the problem and my ads will start seeing impressions within the hour. Uhm… my reply:

“So I you solved the problem by disabling access to my advertiser account? Is that how you hand out impressions now?”

LOL… they’re response was kinda like: oops. Our bad. Hey! At least thats more than what Facebook has to say. I’ve emailed them about my main account days ago and still have yet to get a reply.

I actually got a second MyAds account disabled, too. No idea why, either. 6 accounts in total all shot. Ridiculous how strict everyone has been. But it just goes to show you’ve got to have multiple income streams. There is Google, MSN, Yahoo, Facebook, Myspace, SocialMedia, Cubics, and all them 2nd and 3rd tier search engines and content network ad nets, as well as media buys which are really blowing up these days if you read around. You not only gotta worry about campaigns going down, but networks killing your profits, too. It’s a stressful business.

Tomorrow and Friday I’ve got tests, so I’ll be busy optimizing campaigns while cramming for tests (I start studying a couple hours before each test. Normally able to catch a C-B if I can’t clever my way to an A, which isn’t too hard). I actually have more tests on the 24th and 26th (Christmas isn’t celebrated in Thailand, so no break for that). So, wish me luck on my finals and if I don’t post as frequently, it just means I’m A) making money, B) studying? (nahhhh) or C) Studying anatomy with your mom. Hoooooo NO HE DI’INT!
