Want your social media update to have the maximum effect? This infographic created by Bitly shows that there is a specific time of the day to share your content that will effectively increase traffic to your site. So if you are promoting a link following this guide will increase your click-through rate.

For Twitter the best time to post is early in the afternoon between 1pm to 3 pm on Mondays to Thursdays. The site gets the most traffic between the hours of 9am to 3pm but then you’ll have to deal with a lot of competition.
For Facebook the best time to post is on a Wednesday at 3pm. You’re going to get good results when you make a post midweek between the hours of 1pm to 4pm. The site starts building traffic at 9am and slowly fades at 4pm.
This works best if you are targeting your local area. If you are however targeting an audience in another geographical area then you might want to adjust your posts to coincide with the exact time in your target area.
Now, when we think about this, this doesn’t just mean for free tweets and posts. Look at this at a grander scale. Looking at my analytics, many of my Facebook ads perform best during these days and times of day as well!
Thanks for sharing this graphic. However I'm thinking I saw a different graphic a few weeks ago that suggested to also focus on the weekend. Especially for branding purposes on facebook.
What time zone is this supposed to be for? (I have large pages with users from all over)
