IAB Standard Size Banners on PoF Available

Posted on March 18th, 2010 By Under Affiliate Marketing

For those of you familiar with Facebook advertising, you probably already know this. If  you don’t, Plenty of Fish is probably something you may want to look in to. It converts nicely on some niches, is cheap and easy to break in to, but the only drawback is the lack of traffic and the users susceptibility to banner blindness. Many times you’ll have to rotate ads daily just to keep your CTR up. Either way, it is worth a look at if you like marketing with demographic targeting.

They’ve just announced that they are allowing more banner sizes on their self-serve platform, as well. Here’s the email I received:

Hello,

Ads.pof.com now has more inventory available that will be sold as IAB standard ad sizes. When creating a new campaign, this feature will be available to users who have deposited more than $1000 into their account with ads.pof.com.

35 million impressions per day are available for these ad sizes.  These ads will be displayed on Plentyoffish.com Profile Pages (300×250)  Online My City pages (160×600) and View Message pages (120×600).

Regards,

Plentyoffish.com

You’ll be able to really stretch out your campaigns and show more impressions with this, as previously their smaller 110×80 image size ads only showed up a couple pages. My only question is, is it worth it? Plenty of Fish ads die out really fast. You’ll have to really make 20+ high CTR ads for each campaign to avoid a lot of banner blindness, and at the end of the day, you’re probably only going to get a few hundred thousand impressions a day.

I love PoF as a source for testing new offers, and really honing in on what demographic converts the best. Some of my most successful campaigns have been ones I've started on PoF, and then ported over to other sources that could provide more volume.

I haven't tried the new IAB banners yet, but I really like using the POF ad platform. How come POF can have real time stats, but FB can't?

Great post, I hadn't heard of PoF. Can you maybe dive into how much you are making off of them really quick? I definitely had wanted to use a solid offer to try my hand in Facebook ads, but have been unable to find anything with low-risk.

  5. Thanks for the information. Now all I need is $1k lol
