How To Quickly Make 100s of Images for Facebook Ads

Posted on March 21st, 2010 By Under Facebook, Video Post

Here’s a new one for you guys! Watch the following video that shows you how I am able to make hundreds of images perfectly sized for Facebook and Plenty of Fish in just an hour.

For some of you not listening to my dumb rambling (honestly, I wouldn’t want to listen to my voice either, and my horrible resizing job), here are some of the steps below.

1. Find your image source (I use Bing) and use a relevant keyword to the type of niche you’re working in.

2. Open the images in new tabs

3. Copy the image then close that tab.

4. Open Photoshop and create a new workspace of 110 pixels by 80 pixels, with a resolution of 72 pixels.

5. Paste the image into your workspace.

6. Enable the Transform outline box (CTRL + T) and hold shift as you click and drag the corner until you fit the image in your workspace.

7. Save as and name the file. I just use 1, 2, 3, etc. to quickly name each file in order.

8. Repeat with as many images as you’d like.

Using these steps, I can do a few images every minute. I’ll open 100+ tabs in about 15 – 20 minutes first, then go back and copy and create each ad image. This proves to be very time efficient if you can’t yet afford to have an employee or outsource the job.

you can batch image creation like this using bridge/photoshop in CS4. its quick. to do it:

    1) Open Adobe Bridge navigate to your images. ie open image location folder within bridge.

    2)Go to Tools->Photoshop->Image Processor

    2) Within the dialog box ignore the step 1.

3)Check off the image type you want. i choose jpg but you can also choose psd or tff. click resize to fit and enter 110 for the width and 80 for the height.

    4) click run.

you're done. wasnt that easy? wait for your images to batch while you play a little COD. only downside to this method is that you may have an image that might not be in the ratio of height and width that an FB image requires so it could look funny but you can fix those ones on an individual basis.

  3. Good video! I was wondering why you put the frame around the last picture… it looks ugly but does it help click through rate?

It's just something you can use to help the ad stand out a little more. I wouldn't use the color black, but it was just a quick example I did.

I usually download a ton at once then use the Renamer (small mac application) to change the names to numbers. Then I open them all in photoshop and use the crop tool set to 100×80. I find most images have crap i dont want in my banner, so the crop works better for me.

I am mostly too lazy for this unless I am really scrambling for pics. Thankfully Bing has this wonderful option of filtering horizontal layout pictures and then I just go and save the thumbnail versions with some rough eye judgment of what fits the 110×80 space best.

    Seems pretty efficient.

Nice work! Way to tell people to steal images. I wonder how many Cease & Desists will be served because of this article.

Here's to hoping you're found liable!

I've been doing FB ads for over 2 years. Never got a cease and desist. And if you do get one… oh well… you just stop running the ad using that image.

It's a risk, but don't tell me you are going to go out and pay for thousands of images from gettyimages or wherever to test out one niche.

Besides Shoemoney throwing out C&Ds, I've never heard anyone else sending or recieving C&D's for using images found freely on the Internet.

I find doing an Inner Shadow easier for making borders.

    1. Double click the layer.

    2. Click Inner Shadow.

    3. Set Opacity to 100%, Distance to 0px, Choke to 100%, Size to whatever you want.

    4. You may need to change the Blend Mode to Normal.

    Good video.

One thing to mention, is to turn the bounding box on so you can see the size of the image, without hitting control (cmd)-T. Also, if your image is like 300 dpi, and it's mad huge, you can hit control-0 (zero) and it'll resize the window so you see the whole image size and can scale it easier.

You might also want to setup a droplet for this to automate the process if you're working with a bunch of similar sized images to start out with..

    Hi there,

Good video for first time users of Photoshop. What you've been doing there is not the sort of thing that anyone who actually paid for their copy of Photoshop would require a tutorial for.

I also think that it is probably going to result in very very low conversion rates if you are not advertising something like a dating site or Russian Brides if you are using the style of image you've chosen. But the theory still stands very well and it doesn't take a genius to be able to work out how to find a different image on the internet.

So well done anyway for making a video that people will find very useful. You did well to mention each part, such as Cntl-T and then to hold Shift, handy tips indeed.

Good luck with your internet marketing and I am now going to see what other videos you have here and if anything will be of use to me. This particular video did not help me but I think it is a very good one for other people just starting out, so well done.

Hey Richard, gtfoh. Your comment didn't add anything of value. Remember, constructive criticism and bitching are two different things ;)

  12. Grace Wieber says:

Thanks for the tutorial. As a newbie techie, I appreciate getting the dimensions and techniques. BTW, your voice is very pleasant.

  13. Thanks for the fast tutorial. But you need to update it with newer content. I just go to Google Images and search for images with that size, is faster.
