I’ve been developing some business relationships outside of affiliate marketing. Lately, I’ve gotten some interest in doing a membership style website, specifically for affiliate marketers. Here is basically a run down of what we’d plan to offer -
- Landing Page Templates (As many as 1-3 new releases per workday) – We know affiliates get lazy and steal landing pages, so most of these would be templates. The header banners, testimonial images, etc would all be interchangable, and we would provide you with editable header banners and any other quintessential parts you could change on there: button packs, badges, etc.
- PPV (800 x 600 px in size)
- Review Style
- Flogs
- Farticles
- Squeeze Pages
- Banners (To use on AdWords or in Media Buys)
- Exclusive Tools
- Keyword Research Tools
- Keyword Grouper
- PPV Campaign Builder
- Facebook/Myspace Ads Scraper
- Prosper202 mods
- Others
- Ebooks (including my Facebook book (whenever I decide to finish that >.<))
- Exclusive forum
- Live chat room
- Technical guides & FAQs
- Private case-studies
- Blog
All the elements requiring design (landing pages, banners, headers, graphics, etc) would be created with my insight, someone with success in affiliate marketing, so they’re likely to get you a basic foothold in the affiliate marketing game. Designers would be my full-time employee, another professional designer and personal friend (He still charges me more than $300 for a 1-page landing page.), and others would be hired to create “guest” designs.
I’ve also got some excellent programmers on hand to help in creating new tools for the website. Should be some great things included to help you guys start up new campaigns quick and easy.
My questions are: What am I missing? And how much would you be willing to pay? Oh yeah, and would you sign up for it? All of my mailing list subscribers will get a lifetime discount if you are on the list before the official release.

Would be a great move man. Are you going to code the membership thing from ground up or need something like a social networking script? if you do, then you might try looking here http://www.phpfox.com they have a good script and i have used it also.

Please, I beg you not to do this, for your own good. Maybe I’m wrong but this will most likely kill your credibility. You have a good blog here where you share your mistakes, problems and experiences…but let’s not jump on the ‘guru’ website tools train so quickly as a last ditch effort to make money.
I’m not trying to be a dick, I just don’t think you should go this route.

What stops me from not signing up and copying the LPs your members use anyways?
Instead, you should target newbies and give all this away for free in return they signup under your referral links, once a few of them learn what they are doing you will get residuals for life.

I half agree with Bryn’s comment – we don’t need another guru and tools site.
However, those features are quite compelling. The features are all out there today, however, just mainly standalone products.
What I want is a pre-installed and configured private p202 on a virtual or dedicated server. I hate being in the business of running and troubleshooting this essential tool myself. Less time dealing with p202 self-hosted issues, and more time to spend on aff marketing.

Sorry dude, with the exception of maybe the 202 mods and the ad scraper, I don’t really see much that you can’t already find for free with a little effort in google. And as far as forums go? Who needs to pay for a forum when wickedfire is free?
Maybe you could find some newbs who would pay $30-50 a month… but probably not many.

I just want an ebook that will show me all the in’s and outs of Facebook and will practically promise (with hard work and effort) that I will be successful on that medium. Facebook’s been the one thing I can’t crack.

Going to have to agree with Bryn here. You share great information here and i believe you should keep doing what your doing.

Crazy…I’ve thought about creating a membership site that was similar to this. You’re lucky though because you already have employees on hand, and I’d have had to do it all myself.

100% with Bryn – do not do it.

I’m adding another vote to the pile of no’s you already have. Don’t do it.

I’ve been following you for awhile. I’m new to AM (7 months to be exact) and would love to see this go through for my own learning experience. I would be willing to pay a flat rate + monthly subscription if the quality is there.
I’m trying to break $100/day, as i’m very close

I also agree. Perhaps you should form a collective of like, trusted minds and form a new business in that manner. Synergy…whole is greater than the sum of the parts, and all that.

I say if you want to do it do it. Also if you make a banging keyword grouper I would pay for that, everything else is pretty much beaten to death.

I also suggest to do not go this way. I subscribed to PPC Classroom few months before and was so disappointed that I canceled my subscription in the first month and then stopped reading Amit Mehta’s blog.

keep in mind your target market. the guys who are telling you “no” are already established experts. they have no use for what you are doing. if you’re offering a real, legitimate service to people who can use it then why not go for it? just make sure you’re bringing the right service to the right market.
why would you care about what a few other successful affiliates think? are they making you any money? if it’s helping your target market, do it. who gives a shit about what others think. (no offense to bryn & ppcpimps, you guys are both awesome) this isn’t high school.
me personally i would love to read your information product about facebook ads. but objectively, do whatever makes you happy.

Above Poster:
DING DING, the established people are saying no.
Want to know why?
You don’t need his advice to make money and chances are it wont help you make more than the 1 acai lead a day you do now.
I say do it, only because there will always be sheeple like the above to buy it.

Matt,
not trying to blow up the comments here, but if you had read my post without making an immediate unfounded judgment about me you would understand that we both agree:
“I say do it, only because there will always be sheeple like the above to buy it.”
which is exactly my point. if there’s a market for your product, then make the product. i never said that it was necessary for people to make money.
i agree that you don’t need anyone’s advice to make money. at no point in my comment did i say that my — or anyone’s — income was dependent on his release of a facebook information product – all i said was that I would be interested in seeing it if it was released.
hope that clears things up for you.

What are the incomes and success rates of the people who are saying no? How much have they made online? If Shoemoney & Amish can do million dollar launches for products that are, well…(no comment) you get my drift. Membership sites can be very lucrative, people will pay for exclusivity and to be part of a group (look at Dan Kennedy’s platinum group, he just tells them the same basic marketing 101 stuff over and over), Frank Kern mass control, etc, I could go on and on… Your personality and “guru” status will be vital, and you must embrace it if you want to go this route. You have the potential because you are in a unique position — you are proven, you have an entertaining personality, and you are in a very interesting city, etc… there is a lot of potential for you (leverage it!), you got the world by the balls at your age. Even Dan Kennedy (Frank Kern, & Jay Abraham as well) will tell you (and they have written about this) that retention in a membership site is really more about personality and how you deliver the info… I will look for those particular writings and send them to you (and re-read them myself!)… I say go for it….
