Today while I was reading up on how to do just this I got a call from Maxbounty to accept my application. It seemed pretty easy to get accepted and I am from the UK not the USA which I thought might go against me somewhat. I guess I had a few things in my favour. This is what I did when applying and during the telephone conversation:

Used one of my high quality sites as an example when filling in the application. My background is pure affiliate marketing sales so I had a lot of sites already.

Used a professional email address – the same as the website I submitted. My site was http://www.clearskinpores.com so i generated an email from that. Its been going for about a year which helps because I read somewhere that the older the domain the better when they look at the site. Also i�ts my best performing site and is at the top of google. Not necessary but helps. (this is not me trying to publicise my site or spread spam – its just so you all can see the type of site MaxBounty liked)

Have a niche that you have a personal interest in. Mine was health related products. This happened purely by accident – as soon as i told them that their ears pricked up.

Know how u r going to get them traffic to their offers and tell them. I listed at length all the methods I use and that I am going to use – I was honest.

In my application I told them about my keyword research. Eg I found a relevant word that has a monthly search of 2.4 million with little competion. i bought all the domains for it and spoke about this in my application.

The affiliate manager gave me some of their highest paying offers to start promoting.

All I can say is that everyone�s experience is different. As long as u know your stuff you will have a good chance – Ive had 2 acceptances and no rejections so far!!!

That’s some very good advice I speak with people all day long who fail to prove that they know anything or have any experience in affiliate marketing. Networks just want good affiliates small or large be sure to point out that you are real and a player.

I am a successful affiliate marketer since May 2004.With 6 Ecommerce websites, 12 content websites and 42 content blogs all part of my affiliate marketing venture, I still find it difficult to get accepted by the Clickbooth Network and the LinkShare Leads Advantage Network. I wonder why?

I’ve been reading ur blog posts for a couple of weeks now, left you a small message on Twitter but I guess there just too many friggin DM’s to keep track of them.
Anyway, I started studying at Ramkhamhaeng university in Bangkok about one month ago and was wondering if you’re interested in hanging out together sometime.
I was an exchange student here 3 years ago and thanks to you I’m looking into making some money online your way, rather than with Adsense.

Alright Justin, good advise.

I would add that the best way to get in is to convince them that you are already a player. Now if you don’t know what PPC, incentivized traffic, or SEO is you won’t fool anybody. But if you are already running profitable campaigns with another network, don’t hesitate to let them know. They will let you in to try to steal you away from their competition.

Take care of those Thai girlfriends of yours.

Nice advice Justin and cool tip Ron. Never thought calling them up could change from being denied to be able to get into the network.

Will try. (Now, how can I muster up enough courage to call those numbers…)

Great tips! Especially the calling part. I haven’t been denied once after calling and talking to someone. Sure, being a bit of a noob and not having the best site to apply with I have been “auto denied” a handful of times by networks but every single time I was I called to ask for more specifics of why I was denied and what I could do to change it. Every time they just asked me what I was doing, or planning to do, and it was enough to get me in.

In general if you tell them you have a network of sites (most people do, if not build a few blogs) and that you plan to do some PPC as well (even if you are still learning like I am lol) it should be plenty enough for them to at least give you a try.

Most networks will want to call you anyway to verify your number so if you get denied by applying give them a call and it’s usually enough to get you approved on the spot.
