I do think that the FTC have a responsibility to try and protect the public from the scam artists out there that take your money and run. But It's not that hard to spot the scams, and if the people that are taken in by them can't be bothered to hunt round and do a bit of research about their chosen product - then should they really expect anything other than to get scammed?

There is such a thing as being over protective, and I think that forcing bloggers to 'out' their relationship with the product they're promoting is a little bit overkill. You don't find Jennifer Anniston getting fined for promoting a shampoo that doesn't do what she said it did. I fail to see how online product reviews are any different from TV ad's and endorsements by famous people.

This really can't be too much of a surprise to anyone. Plus most have had some sort of disclaimer on the affiliate LPs for a while. If not, catch up. And the sheeple that don't know when a blogger is getting comped by an advertiser on a post are just, well.....sheeple.
