I kind of felt like I had to write a blog post about these guys after they sent me this:

Now, I wouldn’t be writing about this if I didn’t think they were a good network, and they seem like they really know affiliate marketing. The 4 billion reasons to roll with them comes from the fact that they have Kevin Harrington from ABC’s Shark Tank on board. This guy has a sales record of over $4,000,000,000. Talk about having a ballin’ investor.
As far as offers, ECM has your usual offers seen on many others, plus what looked to be a few other uniques (or ones I just haven’t seen on other networks). I’ve had some time to talk to the owner, Ryan, and he’s a nice dude. I think they’ll definitely be one of the networks to look out for in 2010.

What do you think of them copying so much from Convert2Media?

Justin Dupre
I didn’t see the copying on the about me page, except for like… half of one sentence. Maybe they changed it after that post so I don’t know.
I honestly could give less of a shit about it, though. It probably won’t harm c2m’s business, and I’d think of it as more flattery than anything else. In the affiliate industry, we’ve got affiliates stealing landing pages, creatives and tactics, it was only a matter of time until networks started copying each other. LoL.
As long as the owners know what they’re doing, it shouldn’t matter.

of course they changed it Justin, how about checking the cache smarty pants. As for this post, it just made me unsubscribe. This is one of the blogs I used to check daily and it got whored out for $100 to a substance abuse, information stealing network in which you know nothing about.
That’s ok because Ryan usually screws up everything he does so it’s only a matter of time.

Ouch.
Of course I don’t know much about the network, and if anything bad with them does happen, I’ll be sure to let people know to steer clear. For now, they are doing a good job promoting themselves, much like Tatto did when they launched (although we all haven’t heard much from them lately). ECM just “seems” like they know what they are doing, or at least know how to get attention to themselves, for now. We’ll see how that goes down the road, though.
It seems more to me like you have a beef with Ryan you haven’t settled. Him being an ex-employee, I can imagine there being something there that hasn’t come out yet. I’m glad to hear that the content I have been providing, until this post, has pleased you enough to read daily.
I do write this blog because I do enjoy writing and helping others, however, I do also enjoy being “rewarded” every once and a while… although I am very select about that. I can’t tell you how many ebook gurus have wanted to advertise on here. I had a WoToGePa banner up here a month or so ago that I took down because they didn’t pay me about 10k in revenue generated (fairly generated; wasn’t breaking any terms of the network of advertiser). They even had the balls to inquire to advertise their MediaBuysCoach.
However, after a personal chat with Ryan and amongst my closed circle of affiliate friends, they seemed like a decent network. If Ryan does screw up, well, then you were right. For now, we’ll just wait and see.

That’s quite an invitation. Not surprised, I’m sure Kevin Harrington loves the attention… Good for him, he deserves it

Hey Justin,
I respect your unbiased opinion with the information that you have retained from all sides. I assure you that the information I have withheld is VERY detrimental to their business even on the legal side. I know a few of their guys personally so having a personal beef with Ryan (if I even considered it that) would probably cost them a lot more than I care to put on them.
A quick hit on the unsubscription button may have been a bit hasty. If anything your unbiased response will make me want to visit more than ever, so thanks for clearing that up.

Thank you Justin for the post. We look forward to building a strong business relationship with you in the new year. Furthermore, I have been reading your blog for sometime now and I appreciate your unbiased approach you have presented for us. I will continue to follow you in to the new year and I hope your readership continues to grow. Wotogepa is another story…terrible experience.

Hey Justin, what did you do with WOTOGEPA? They owe me $11k and won’t answer my calls or IM’s or emails. I am pretty pissed about it.

Advertiser didn’t pay them, so they said they won’t pay me. Wasn’t doing anything against advertisers or networks rules, they just have a clause in their terms that says if advertiser won’t pay, they won’t pay us.

Basically the reason ECM is hated so much
Just a copy cat network
Heres a few examples:
-Send money to bloggers is copied from revolution202

-Uniform
Go to facebook look at Adtech C2M and ECM shirts
-About Us Page
Check out the Google cache the ECM about us page and then google search any sentences
-Remember the Affiliate manager who asked a pub where I can buy ads? well that guy works there now lol.
Let me know if you want more

Justin, great post. I’m a new ECM pub and they’ve treated me great. And unlike most networks they’re actually training me!
@ Yogi Bear – I understand that Ryan was one of the founders of C2M, so that would make him copying himself in a way?
And so what if they copy? It’s smart to model yourselves after success; why reinvent the wheel? Look at corporate America – Pepsi and Coke, McDonalds and Burger KIng, Ford and Chevy – if one company does something successful they all copy.
If you’re not learning from other successful people in your field you’re crazy, and probably broke.

@ Kid Compton
Yea thats nice Ryan
keep it up
Most of the work that was done was for sure after ryan quit check facebook for yourself the photos of the shirts and what not are recent.
But seriously same shirt ideas? Same Biz cards?
Btw post an update when your am copying your landers and competing with you (ecm lance)
Anyways Im out get some more advice from ecm lance so you too can be elite like him lol

It’s funny how the whole point of a network is them handling/taking the risk for a %. Kinda pointless if they’re just taking a % and none of the risk.
