As You May Have Noticed…
Posted by Justin Dupre on September 15th, 2008As you may have noticed, I’ve been away for a while. Actually I’ve just been too damn lazy to update this blog. Gotta get my butt into shape when it comes to that.
What else you may have noticed is that Facebook is effing shit right now. I paid off all my dues and was like, lets run some new ads. So I tried just that. Good number of impressions, yup yup, but I noticed I wasn’t spending anything. Even my old popular ads that I just resubmitted. CTR is in the shitter for now.
Why? The new layout of Facebook is now mandatory, which means a whole lot more people are not going to see your ads. Now, they are only visible on profile pages, and no more longer seen on homepages and all that other riff-raff. They are also placed a bit lower, so those running Facebook on smaller monitors won’t see any ads above the fold.
It sucks for all you that have been relying on Facebook for income, because for some, it will get cut in half, 3/4ths or even more. Hell, I don’t even think I’m doing 10% of what I used to do. Good thing I laid off of Facebook for the last 2 weeks. I’ve luckily been doing some other things to keep my profits up and expenditures down.
I’ll still keep playing with Facebook, but its kind of a dead, overstuffed fish now. There is money there, and as long as we can still run ads, there will always be money, buts its just not as much. For all you looking for other easy options, I’d definetly check out Social Media. I’m pretty positive you can make some easy cash off them with demographically targetted ads (they run ads on Facebook aps, Hi5 (yeah, lol, thats mine), Bebo and all them other shitty social media sites). Just make sure you set up your own click tracking (prosper202 and tracking202 are excellent options….google ‘em), as I’ve heard they send some shitty fake clicks to noobs…like you.
