The good ol’ credit report. Lots of affiliates have been banking off these offers for a long time. And while you might think you are too late to bring anything new to the game, you really aren’t. Take a look at dating, beaten to hell with 1000 sticks, but there is still so much money to make in it. So pick up your sticks and get ready to take a whack at credit reports because I’m going to be showing you how you can start making money being a credit report slingin’ affiliate marketer.
I’m not going to sit down and pick out any one offer here. We will indefinitely be using landing pages, so don’t be worried with the size of the offer page or anything. One thing we won’t be doing is trying to throw credit reports at people who are already looking for them. Most call centers and credit report lead genners have these keywords and targets on lock down, so you’ll literally be spending $20 per click on search or $1+ on PPV per view just to get someone to see your stuff. You won’t be able to compete.
Be sure the credit report offers you choose allow the traffic sources you affiliate market on, and read any special terms they have. Some of these guys can be strict on your traffic and not getting paid isn’t a good way to start your affiliate career.
The above offer is CreditReport.com and is a top ranked offer on multiple networks, so it’s a good place to start off when picking your credit report CPA offers.
I always go through a few similar domains to compare the statistics Quantcast gives me. The above stats on CreditReport.com were very consistent over the several other domains I checked. It was a lot of lower income, lower educated women viewing these sites. Also, African Americans and Hispanics topped the charts here, as well. Look down at the Audience Also Likes section and you’ll see some high affinity sites that paint a good picture. It is a lot of people trying to save as much money as they can, so we’ll want to play this into our landing page angles.
When you can start using this data creatively, that is when you are going to start being an awesome affiliate marketer.
I’m going to suggest you guys get an account at TrafficVance and start running credit reports on PPV. It is 10x cheaper that search, and it is extremely difficult to push credit reports on social media. Later down the line this shouldn’t limit you, but if you’re an affiliate newbie, any other traffic source will just get extremely difficult to target.
So the name of the game with credit reports is to get creative with your angles and try out as many as you can. Some will stick, some won’t so don’t get discouraged if you try something here and it doesn’t work.
Okay, so lets look at some of the data we had before in the research phase. One angle we will want to target is people looking to go back to school. You will need to use a landing page to get your angles across and inform the viewer why it is absolutely essential that they get a credit report. In this case, your landing page could list some of the benefits of knowing your credit score and those can be:
Etc, so forth and so on. You cannot just go out there and test 1 sales copy on your landing page. Design can come second, but your sales copy always needs to be split tested. In PPV a 1-2% increase in conversion rates can mean doubling your income in some cases, and landing page copy is the number 1 benefactor towards conversion rates.
Looking for more angles? Look back at the research again. Look into people buying houses, cars, and boats and other things people will probably need a loan to purchase and own. Remind them that with their credit report they can buy a bigger, better car, borrow more money, get more furnishings for that new house, get better terms on that new apartment lease. Also, look into the demographics a bit. Split test the images on your landing page, as a picture of a black or Hispanic woman on it may help improve landing page CTR.
I’m going to rate this one pretty high because you need to think creatively to get your piece of the pie. This isn’t something you can just go out, direct link, and copy. You need to split test a lot of things, but once you do, you will find your angle and you will be able to scale out things quickly with a formula for success down.
Try a lot of different offers and angles out here guys. Again, direct linking and thinking inside the box here is a big no-no.

LOL this is so generic. Also, this just sounds like you are lying to these users:
Remind them that with their credit report for that new house, buy a bigger, better car, borrow more money, get more furnishings for that new house,, get better terms on that new apartment lease.
It\’s a bit misleading, but getting your credit report might allow you to see mistakes on it, allow you to get the information you need to bump that credit score or how to do it, which makes you more trustable to banks, allowing you more financing, better terms… but that\’s up to the end user to find out and decide on their own. We aren\’t the salesman, affiliates just point people in the right direction with a small hash of information. If an advertiser isn\’t happy with the way I market things, I do all I can to make us all happy.
It's a hell of a lot better than the "security alert" landing pages most people are promoting.
This is really tough. Tried Payday loan offer on LI and got hammered, with zero conversion and huge bids. Probably the same with this, competition is very strong. And the deposit on TV is $1k.
Campaign aside – I like that you highlight the importance of interpreting data creatively, and testing your way through the thick of things to uncover opportunities. Great work ethic, and methodology.
Would it not be better to gather sites with similar demographics or where your demographics hangout e.g blackplanet for African-Americans and similar site for Hispanics. Then test running different banner creatives through the various self-serve banner adnetworks
Your posts aren't showing up for me on firefox…cheers
I do like the month of campaigns though, not many would share that much.
Great info as usual <3
Yeah, I have the same problem viewing your blog in Firefox. Any way I gave Credit Reports a go with the autos angle with no success. But this has given me some more ideas and angles to try! What's your opinion on this –>> The Credit Report landing page I had for people looking to buy cars had a REALLY GOOD CTR, but no leads.( Sent over 150 clicks to each offer across various networks) Which confirms there is some interest but no cigar.
Upgrade your browser to the latest version of Firefox. You\’re probably on version 3.x.x when the latest version is currently at 7. Also, you may have to try some more stuff with your landing pages. The interest is really there, so maybe you just need to give the user a bit more information or reword some things.
Ive been running credit reports for the past 3 years and its definitely worth getting profitable since it just keeps running on autopilot. I havnt got it profitable on PPV yet but I have tried many angles.
My recommendation is to be on the lookout on high traffic sites that already have banners for credit reports and bid on those on PPV.
Also, scrub rates are insane on credit report offers so if you get the creditreport.com offer, try and get the offer from at least 3 networks and split test them.
what do you mean with scrubbing? what does it mean?
\”Lead Scrubbing has two meanings, one honest and one dishonest. The honest meaning refers to an advertiser or lead buyer doing real-time validation of leads in order to avoid buying duplicate or fraudulent leads. The better a lead buyer validates the leads that it might accept the more it can pay for qualified leads. An end lead buyer that does not have this capability will rely on a lead aggregator for this service, pay significantly less per lead and deal with the bad leads, or return duplicate or fraudulent leads for a refund.
The dishonest meaning of lead scrubbing — a.k.a. lead shaving — refers to unethical affiliate marketing networks or lead buyers that do not pay for all of the leads taken from an affiliate. This results in lower total payouts to affiliates. The main reason that this practice exists is so that affiliates who seek the highest bounty (i.e. highest payouts) can be told a higher than realistic payout. So, for example, a stated payout of $50.00 and a real scrub rate of 25% results in an effective payout of $50.00 * (1 – 0.25) = $37.50. Some lead buyers may argue that this is done to cover leads that turn out to be bad without having to deal with per lead returns. However, this is bad practice especially when selling leads to multiple buyers in real-time through ping tree software. If you are an affiliate generating leads for multiple buyers and your system thinks a lead did not sell to one buyer then of course it will seek out another buyer. When a legitimate lead is scrubbed or stolen then this can result in multiple lead buyers trying to use the same lead. This looks bad for the affiliate and everyone loses.\” – http://techsavvyleads.com/WhatIsScrubbing.aspx
