I decided today would be one full day of hard work, and I’ve been up since 8 o’clock on the grind. It’s been nice, but I remember days where I couldn’t do this much.

Take it as a hint. When you are getting in to affiliate marketing, you need to manage one thing at a time. Research your first campaign, pick one traffic source, do a simple A – B split test, and try to understand fully why you are profiting or losing money on your campaign.

You can understand more by optimizing one thing, rather than split test 20 different landing pages and ad copies at once. With Facebook ads, start out with your ad copy, then to your images, then to your landing/offer pages. By doing everything at once, you will have to cycle through hundreds of variables that could be causing more profit one way rather than the other. You can build a custom tracking solution to do this for you, but it would be very expensive and time consuming, especially for someone new to marketing.

Eventually, you’ll get to the point where you can manage more and more at the same time. Even so, I’ve been into affiliate marketing for 2 years, and I still get stressed out from the amount of things I’ve got on hand. Blogs, PPV, display advertising, networking, product and employee management, and now I’ve got to throw university courses on top of this. It’s part of the package that comes in the life of an AM. If you can’t handle it get out, or slow down.

Why would an affiliate want to go to University? I suppose if you want to be something specific like a doctor, lawyer etc.

    1. It’s a great way to network. Many of the people in my school are sons and daughters of very rich people. Hell, I used to attend classes with a princess of Burma.

    2. Cute girls…

    3. It gets my visa work done without all the need to invest in Thai businesses (and then get taxed 30% on that income here, and the American government would still tax my ass off profits from that too!)

I don’t care about the degree, and I just take classes that interest me (Accounting, PR, Advertising, Marketing and Psychology courses this term).

You think testing adtext first is the best approach for your initial fB campaigns? I’ve been flip flopping on this. I’ve been doing picture testing first since I know your picture is directly tied to your ctr and with no clicks there won’t be much of an ad-text to test….any thoughts on this?

I totally agree with this post. I’m still guilty of focusing on too many things myself.

  5. I totally agree with you on this, far too many newbies to internet marketing just jump in and try to follow every possible method to make money online at once, then because they aren’t just working on a single method, they are trying 10 methods at once, they see next to no results, then start to spam everywhere saying they don’t work and they want people to teach them to make money online.

Working doing one thing by a time is a great way to get things done, it gives you a list of what you need to do and what order you can do it in, then it’s just a case of going though the list, instead of having short lists with very short tasks, such as ‘do this’, I prefer to have long lists of detailed tasks I need to do, I find I go though the list much quicker as well.

  6. I know the feeling, man, I attend school full time too and it’s really overwhelming sometimes. At least when you procrastinate school work you can do something semi-productive with your campaigns online instead of something like browsing Facebook.

Yeah, too many things at once ends up being a discourager for newbie’s. I’m focusing on ppv now and was working on my second campaign before my 1st was profiting. Now I’m concentrating on getting that campaign even more converting traffic.

While I’m collecting data I’ll work on the second tho…

Im in a few college classes my self. However i have had a hard time trying to find people to talk business with. I have found writers and artists in college but im looking for someone who wants to talk money, and the unique online ways to make it.
